Shared Access database

Hi

I have an access database which is shared by approximately 10 people.

I have a shortcut to the front end of the database as I make all changes and also have a copy of the back on my desktop, all other users have a copy of the front only.

When I try to open the back of the database to backup or compact it it tells me that I am already in and to try again when the database is available. This is not the case. I have checked with our IT department and they cannot tell me why this is happening and checked that everybody else only has a copy.

Can you tell me why this continues to happen, almost on a daily basis.

Any chance there is an .ldb file hanging around that should be deleted?

if any user has the db open, the backend will be locked for compacting etc.

as RG says, try and delete the ldb fiel - if it wont delete then trhe dbs is REALLY in use.
