Show part of text in a field

Hello,
So I have a report that shows our staff w/ their pictures. I have it sorted as well (1- Pastor, 2- Youth Minister, etc). Is it possible to show only the title (i.e. "Pastor", "Youth Minister") and still keep the number so it can sort properly? Or do I need to create a table for staff positions and assign, then sort that way?
