Now who would want to do that? Well, if you need to zip your package folder into an .exe and post it on the net, it's a must.

Is there a way to get a Packaging Wizard Package with runtime files any smaller. My database is about 4 mb, but as a package the whole thing zipped with winzip is 129 mb.

This makes it basicly useless for web posts and downloading by others.

What can be done, Anything??

Mike,

Not that I would encourage anyone to reduce the size of their package, but..

If you have used the Packaging Wizard, it is likely that you have included the setup files for IE5.1 This makes up ~ 65mb of the package.

If your application does not reqiuire IE5.1 (most users would have 5.1 or newer anyway) then do not add IE when packaging.

From memory, the Office Runtime CAB file is ~ 45Mb including SP1, so if you need to distribute the runtime files, then you will have to put up with the size.

You can check your own package ( :o ) for the IE5 files in the following directory:

\yourpackagedirectory\Runtime\IE5

Everything in the IE5 directory is IE Cab file related and can be removed. (or repackage without IE5)

Remember to always have a backup of your original.

Cheers

Brad.
