I have a report, and, quite embarassingly, can't seem to shrink the 'Report Header', 'Report Footer', etc sections down - I've tried clicking and dragging as the help file suggests, but this isn't working at all - the cursor doesn't turn into the appropriate shape. Originally the report was going to be over two pages, but since then I've changed things around and made it look pretty in a different way - but I still get blank pages due to these 'sections' looking ludicrously long!

Help!

How do I shrink them (not vertically, but horizontally)?

you've probably got lines drawn in the sections, try reducing their widths first

Sadly, there are no lines- I've already shrank them down, as I have done with the white area (where the actual report resides), it's just these lines... they go on, and on...

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Oooh...

Actually, there was this handy button in the top left of the screen that offered me the options I required, took me too long to find though... I blame the fact that it's Friday...

Have a nice weekend!

oh, man...where is this button? i'm having the same prob, i think. i resized everything, but i can't figure out how to shrink down those fields, and i think that's what's causing my report to print 2 extra pages???

BloodRayne hasn't been around since 2006. Sadly, there is no magic button.

What Rich said is correct. Just because you can't see the lines doesn't mean they aren't there and causing problems. It's a remnant of the report wizard.

Here's what I imagine BloodRayne found:
Right click a control in the report and select properties. In the properties sheet at the top is a drop down list with the name of every "object" in the report. As you select each object, it should be outlined and you can see where it is. If you cannot see one of the objects, it could be a line hidden in the header/footer section.

While a control is "selected" you can see its dimensions and, if careful, you can select one of the handles of a line and reduce its size. Once you have all objects "out of the way", you can shrink the header/footer section. If you cannot shrink the header/footer section, there IS an object in the way, as I said earlier, whether you can see it or not.

Hope this helps.

hmmm...i don't know. maybe its a different problem. i can resize the background and i went through all the items in the drop down..all were visible.

instead of hijacking this post...i'll make my own post to discribe this problem.

thanks, george...
