Hello.

I am building a simple form with a few Combo Boxes, text boxes and a picture. When two out of the three Combo boxes updates a few text boxes, labels but not all and the picture flikers/blink. I do have one other combo box that does not cause anything to flicker once it updates. This is getting annoying and it makes my form look unprofessional
  • I do not have any vba or macros running yet on the form -
  • I have tried different ways to creat the form IE. Form Wizard and Blank Design. I used the Look up wizard for creating the text boxes/ Combo boxes in the database.
The other thing I noticed is that when in design view the same objects blinks when I scroll up or down loger than the other objects.

I did search this site and the web but did not find anything that did not metion VBA code and the Echo on/off.

Is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance.

Try copying and pasting one of the existing combo boxes, delete one causing problems and rename the copied one. Change the properties as appropriate.

Yes when I select an item from the drop down list and it updates half of my others controls flicker. But not all.

If I am on the right track I looked to find where the code is for the combo boxes so I can turn the echo off/on, but could not find any. This was the only thing I could find when I did my search before I posted. This is only if I am on the right track. Am I? Is there a way to turn off Echo on a combo box?

I do not have a timer.

What I don't understand is when half my combo boxes update (when I select an item from the drop down list) only half of my other controls flicker. And I do have 2 other combo boxes that do not cause any other controls to flicker at all. I cant find any differrence between the ones that cause the flicker and the ones that do not cause the flicker.

Thank you your help is appreciated. Any more thoughts?

Thank you. Yes I tried to cut and past any combination I could think off with the combo boxes as well as the other controls. I also tried it a second time after I read your post. Thank you your help is appreciated. Any more thoughts?

Hello
After trying everything, I ended up redoing everything all over again. I did however create the Combo Boxes (drop down) in the form and not in the table itself this time.

Now only one dropdown box refreshes/flickers the form.

Is this normal? Why would one drop box cause the screen to refresh and other drop boxes do not?

Thank you

Thank You, I have not had a chance to work on this project again. But if you dont mind I have a question that could clear up some confusion for me.

What is the best way to use and create Combo Drop Down Boxes.

A. Create a combo box at the table level with the look up wizard to get info from the other table so when you create a form, the drop down box is already create.

OR

B. Create a text box at the table level and in the form create the combo box with help of the combo wizard.

Thank you.

definitely B.

Using A will almost certainly cause problems in the future.
