Gutted! SAF is retiring at the end of the season. Bad news for all Manchester United fans.

Who do you think will replace him?

got to be the "chosen one"

Is it def confirmed that SAF is stepping down then?

Yes, confirmed.

David Moyes currently out of contract with Everton is the odds on favourite, no wonder Everton are having a board meeting.

I actually thought that Fergie would stay to try and emulate the incomparable Bob Paisley and become only the second manager to win 3 European Championships.

Greatest manager of all time, will be a big loss to Man Utd. No manager can replace him and the only one close would be Jose Mourinho but that would be short term as he never stays at a club for long! If David Moyes gets choosen I feel Fergie should of retired next season and sign Moyes as assistant manager for next season.

Terrible news, Fergie was the best part of the Black Eyed Peas.

I always thought Ferguson was an arrogant jerk. I'm happy to see him go.

I'd love to see the stats of how many other Managers have been in the Premier league during Ferguson's tenure, and how many trophies they have amassed.

Furgeson would have you belive it was his management that made MU such a great team but it takes more than management to achieve those results.

MU certainly went downhill after he dumped David Beckham.

Ferguson may be a good manager but as a person he has shown a lack of class on different occasions.
But then again, football is not known for its classy people.

Moyes will be a good replacement.

Well - Tommy Docherty's reign wasn't exactly stellar in the results category.

One thing is certain, other teams would be better off to let their managers have a little time before firing them - its become a laughing stock, the way that so-called intelligent businessmen hire and fire their "CEOs"

Maybe Malcolm Glazer will hire one of his countrymen to run his team the American way...

The great thing that Glazer did was to allow a man who knew about football run the club, unlike those clowns Hicks and co who took over Liverpool or Abromovitch at Chelsea.

SAF will be a very hard act to follow, and Moyes is in for a tough time of it (goes without saying). A few bad results could see Moyes get the boot early on, but the reds should remember what SAF was like when he first arrived.
Who will take over Everton now? Lennon seems to be favourite, had some good results in the CL but league form (even though winning the SPL) was pretty woeful this term. Martinez is second favourite and I think is more likely to get the offer.
