Some great pictures taken by the US military

Typical Yankee propaganda, just look how powerful we are:rolleyes:

Any country that has aircraft carriers could have pics like this - why is it special to the USA?
Most other countries just get on with things rather than try to show the world how self centred they are.

I'm sorry, but I for one am a great admirer of photography.
I didn't take it as a depiction of "look how powerful the US is."
I took it as "Here are some really great photos" And as Col says, any country could have pics like these. I wasn't particularly impressed with photo 2, but photos 1 and 3, I thought were great. Especially 1. And I'm not exactly an aircraft hound. I just thought the image was well done.

Since we are sharing photos, I'd love to show you one I took this weekend.
It was my husband's birthday and we decided to escape to a nearby resort. We have both been working so hard for the past several years and we really needed this break. Now, this photo could be construed as "Lazy American relaxes as world falls apart around her" but I would hope it is not. I was simply, at long last, having a rest.

Nobody said these pictures are special to the USA. The title of the thread is ...by the US military. They could have said ...by RAF (or anyone else), does not mean only the USA could have taken these pictures.

Also, these pictures are on Tom Phillips' personal website. How is this considered "showing the world how self centered they are"?

It would appear the English people have a severe inferiority complex. I never thought when posting the links it would be a political statement.

Other people just like the pictures.

But the English position is understandable. Instead of sending the convicts to Australia you should have moved to Australia and left England in the hands of the convicts. That way you would be on a big piece of dirt.

I just did some searching on Google and I think the results expalin why the English are so uptight. England has a population of 60 million living in area that is smaller than a large cattle station in Australia and far smaller than our largest electorate, which is in Western Australia.

If I was one of 60 million people living on a postage stamp, then I would be uptight and especially with America. If the English had played their cards correctly they could have called Australia and America thier own bit of dirt. But instead the went for the postage stamp size dirt.

I would suggest to any Australians or Americans that are puzzled by the English attitude....go to Google and look at the size of England and imagine you are living on that little piece of dirt with 60 million other people. If so, you would be pissed of at the world etc.

Yes and this site also quotes
"if you can read this in English thank the US military" I don't think so, they never came to my school

The snag with that is that Oz is so far from civilisation (or the real world) it takes at least 24hrs to get anywhere near people who speak proper English.

Anyway, isn't most of Oz burned to a crisp now?

The title of this thread does indicate that only the US military are capable of taking pics like this. It would have been better to title it differently without the emphasis on the US military.

I agree technically they are good pics, but not peculiar to the US.

Well, we have the Americans at Pine Gap...

What is in the topic that causes you to break out in hives....

Some great pictures taken by the US military

Everyone thinks they are great pictures.

What is the problem?

Maybe I should repost the links and change the topic to......A group of pictures that you wil not be interested in.

A group of pics that show the might of the US military machine

Is that sort of language necessary? You should say 'please' if you're asking me to do something for you, it is common courtesy.

I agree the pictures are reasonable. Also, they are vaguely interesting. Although I prefer Tess's photo.

The pictures are excellent and to the extent you had to look at them.

As to Tess, you have obviously seen pictures that I did not see. Is Tess playying favourites with English gentlemen?

If we had waited for the US military to help in 1939-1940 we would all be speaking German now:D

To quote Montgomery the US waited in the pavillion till half time

Then the Japanese declaration forced them to bat?
