Sorting Dimmed

Hello. I have a report that is based on a query. The query sorts on 3 fields. Simple right? The query runs fine. As soon as I attach it to the report, the sort is not correct. The query is basic, the report is basic..nothing fancy. I tried basing the report on the table and sort in the report but the sort options are dimmed. Suggestions?:banghead:

The Report will ignore the sort of the Recordsource. You need to use the *Sorting and Grouping* in the Report. Just right mouse click on say the Detail section and you should see it there.

Thanks! That worked! But why does the report ignore the sort defined in the query? Has that always been that way? And, the Sort options on the Home tab when I'm in design view of the report, are still dimmed. What does the Sort/Grouping on the Home tab refer too?

It's always been that way and the ones on the Ribbon do not apply to the Report they are used with Forms.
