Using Access XP in 2000 file format on a Windows XP box I have a query that involves a nested If statement and runs out at 970 characters. This runs fine on the above machine however when I try to run it on a 98 box with Office 2000 I get a fatal error every time. My question is, is there a string length limit and is it less on Win 98.

Thanks,

David

There has to be a better way. You could for example, write your own function where you could use a case statement which will be much easier to comprehend and debug. Depending on what you are trying to do, it might be best to create a new table to do the "conversion" for you without code at all.
