Just wondering if anyone would weigh in on a St Pats Parade or other St Pat celebrations.

Added the Parade Route flyer for Denver, Colorado.
It is still a big deal here in Colorado. It has judges and finishes up by Coors Field. Coors is a beer brewery in Golden, Colorado. I once knew a detective who went to Coors for a special case.

Some places don't celebrate St Pats the same now days.
This is the route and my guess is a quarter million might take part as audience or in the parade. Will post the results here later.

Denver had the mining in the 1840's known as the 49' ers. Lots of immigrants during those times. There are several Irish Pubs downtown. Granted.... not as authentic as those in Ireland or even New York City. But still, family owned for generations instead of some chain. The parade is a big deal, lots of great beer discounted activities and lots of green in every shape form and liquid.

New Orleans has a combined St. Joseph's Day/St. Patrick's Day parade, which is an excuse for parade groups to get out and have fun. They charge the group members enough to defer the cost of refurbishing the floats, any excess money goes to charities.

The big reason for the parades is that it gives another excuse to toss a party, not that we really NEEDED an excuse. It was true before Katrina hit us, but now we have fresh memories of why we want to throw parties for good reasons, not just funerals. Life is just too short to not throw a party now and then.

Besides which, with all the green beer, we confuse the germs in the toilets.

We have one here in Visalia, CA. But I have never been to it. I have attended the parade we had at my college (Rolla, MO). They had the Budweiser Clydesdales pulling their wagon (talk about a big horse). They also painted the main street green. Also we have St. Patrick as sort of a mascot. There is a week long celebration (our spring break).

Coming to this a bit late.
I live in Cork, Ireland, so the parade is always a big deal here. The city has a parade, but most of the outlying villages and suburbs have their own little parade as well.
Everyone has the day off, with the pubs being busy the night before as well as on St Patricks day itself. I took the Friday off as well, so it was good break.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Rising, with the kids have 3 weeks off school, starting form St Patricks day. So they are very, very happy! This year the army visited each school to give them the Irish flag, and there was a Proclamation day before the break where they all read out the Proclamation of the Republic while the flag was raised. Which was pretty cool.

I'd love to go to the parade in New Orleans or New York. We get the green milkshakes here, but I will visit the USA to try a green beer!

Visit Rolla, Missouri during the week of St. Patrick's. There is enough green beer to float a large ship.

That sounds good.
The only green drink I've seen is Shamrock Shakes from McDonalds. Which are minty.
Is the green beer minty as well?
