Hi, I am trying to build an access database, but my knowledge isn't great and I wondered if anyone had any helpful advice or knew of a template i could easily transform!
We receive info that goods are despatched - this includes a unique ref, load date, approx total net and gross weight.... this info is currently on one spreadsheet and shows totals only (this is what is sent to our customer)
When the goods arrive, we have another spreadsheet that we update with the breakdown (one reference in the first spread sheet could contain 20 pieces) and the individual weights etc.
This is then in stock, until we ship out... we send on vessels and can sometimes take bits of one reference, bits of another - and this is then cut and pasted into a 'vessel' spreadsheet - which is pretty much like a loading list. finally we have a 'cumulative sheet' this shows monthly figures - such as total stock in, total stock out... these excel sheets are huge... and are starting to come apart! so I need to urgently do something... and I think I am thinking about this in the wrong way. I admit I am rubbish - and desperatly need some advice - or good online help that I can try and learn a little more!:D

Here is a link that has several sample data model templates. You might find something that will work directly, or that you can build on.

Please not I have no connection to this site or company. I have referenced it from time to time.

Welcome to AWF!

What I think you are needing is based on the design of a good inventory control system.
