Subdatasheet expand indicators disappear in 2003

When I split a database in Access 2003, the expand indicators (+) for subdatasheets are not visible on the frontend. If I split the database in 2002, then the subdatasheets are available in that version, but still not visible in 2003.

After splitting, all relationships are intact and Subdatasheet Name is set to Auto in Table Properties.

Any ideas?

Nevermind. I figured it out. I had to open the table in the back end and insert the subdatasheet. Then it worked fine when I went back into the front end.
