If I contract Swine Fever and Bird Flu, does that mean pig's can fly?
It's already been found in Europe too, this has the potential to become pretty widespread very quickly.
You get the impression that most people in the US are laid up with this flu business.
The problem with swine flu is that it is believed to be the same strain that caused millions of deaths in the epidemic of 1918/19. More people died in this epidemic than died in WWI.
It's not the same strain. It's just been given the same name because of it has the same main protein composition and reproduces the same way, so do many other viruses. The names can be confusing, you have to look at the types as well. If it were the same strain, we would be fine because there would already be a vaccine for it, not to mention already preexisting immunity. This strain is a hybrid strain of pig, bird, and human flu viruses. They believe that the reason people seemingly healthy have died from it is because of their body's overreaction to fighting the virus, since we have no already developed immunity to this completely new virus. Things have changed a lot since the early 1900s and we have very good antiviral medications that can keep our body from overreacting and causing further health problems. I highly doubt we will see nearly as many deaths. The reason Mexico has is because of the lesser health care and the fact they didn't know in time it was a brand new flu virus they were dealing with. The only deaths I can see are the immuno-compromised and poor/elderly who don't seek the health care they need.
Well said, i agree... i just wish i was in the cotton mask manufacturing business...![]()
Or hog the limelight while boaring us all to death with their theories on how to prevent further infection
