Hello All,

I really hope someone can help.

We currently have an access database that is used to take pictures and then print to id whilst saving the info about the person.

Basically you enter the person detail, click take picture, then click print card and once printed the card is scanned which triggers the save of the info. It's served us well and does exactly what we need.

It currently uses a Hauppauge WinTV usb unit and a basic CCD camera.

The problem is the WinTV units SDK and ocx's are obsolete.

They have new versions of the units but they are expensive and the SDK is all .net. I'm concious we do not have the time nor the budget to fully re-write.

Currently:

I have a form with an object
OLE Class: hcwWinTVControl.hcwWinTVocx
Class: hcwWinTVControl.hcwWinTVocx

These rely on
hcwwintv.ocx
wiaaut.dll

Is there a way that we can achieve the same thing with a basic web cam?

Many Thanks

What tells you these are now obsolete? What brings you to this point of concluding they are obsolete?

In general, a lot of times, if you have the library files, you might be able to manually move/copy them to any new system as long as you update the references to a location change.

Sorry I didn't make myself very clear.

The WinTV units need replacing and they are no longer available. They have newer versions but they don't use the old ocx. I have been unable to get the new version to work with what we currently have.

Thanks

No one?
I'm really stuck on this one!...

I took a look this morning on eBay and there are a ton of your usb Hauppauge WinTV units available for cheap.

Or rewrite around a newer unit...

Maybe somebody else has a different idea.

Not the type we use.

I've tried re-writing around their newer units and have failed.

Was looking for an alternative

Thanks
