Fundamentals - 86 %, too easy......

Hi Uncle Gizmo,

Just for Fundamentals with no study just based on my extensive playing I managed to get 86%. :p

Creating and working with database - 97%
Finding, Filtering and Formatting Data - 100% :D
I like question 10 on this one;
Select the statements that are not true - Bill Gates has more money than I do!!!!! (Who has more money?)
Working with Tables and Fields - 87 %
Working with Relational Databases - 100%:) Too easy, only 6 questions....
Formatting Forms and Reports - 70%, Doh

Oh well, so for the core it is an average of 90%. I can handle that! :p

Will do the Expert level at a later time, these questions were very easy within these exams!!!

So Uncle Gizmo, what did you get?

I got a total of 4 wrong. Two of them were wrong because the software wouldn't accept the correct answer (I have pictures). Two were wrong because the questions were poorly presented which made one of the answers technically correct but of course that was not the answer they were looking for. And a fifth question although I guessed the answer they were looking for didn't actually have a correct answer in the list.

I would doubt if the writers really know what they are asking even in the ‘Fundamentals’…

Q. Design View lets you view and modify the structure of any database object.
A. False.
Test response: Wrong. Design View is where you go to modify any database object.

Question…Has anybody really been able to modify the MsysObjects table in Access?

Maybe a better thread would be to challenge the ‘Test Response’ and give reasons.

Regards,
Chris.

I had a go at these and agree with Pat, some of the questions/answers were a bit dodgy to say the least!

Got 90% or better in every one of the tests - both Fundamental and Expert...

Come on Uncle Gizmo - bear your soul, and your score!
You know you want to! :)

LOL...............

Microsoft Access 2002: The Fundamentals
Your score is 77%.
Questions answered correctly first time: 9/12

Microsoft Access 2002: Creating and Working with a Database
Correct!
Your score is 100%.
Questions answered correctly first time: 15/15

I didn't do so well on the fundamentals, I think it's because I've learned my own way of doing things! I will do some more when I've got more time.

For me the Fundamentals was the hardest section. I got all the answers correct but only because I opened Access and looked. IMHO closed book questions that test your knowledge of which menu contains a function are totally worthless.

There is a similar thread going on in the private MVP news group with pretty much the same opinion. The test is pretty much valueless.
