hi one and all,

I have searched the forums and the internet for the past couple days and havent found anyone with this particular issue.

Basically I have a need for a background image (which i have) and the text fields from a predefined query (which work fine). I would be a happy camper if the field displayed wouldnt move when I go from design view to print preview. It was before, but one day the fields decided to shift when in print preview.

Can anyone let me know why this is happening?

Below are two screenshots (via photobucket website) and the 3rd is a website detailing the steps on how I took to got to this point.

Controls don't mysteriously move on a report absent code moving them.

But subreport can look like they are in one place in Design View, but actually show things slightly differently when viewed in action. So, you need to play around with the subreport (I'm assuming that's the part that you were talking about) to get it to display properly. Also, if the subreport has more than one record, it will make things appear to move around as it fits things into the report.

the shifting continues......

I was actually referring to the text fields being moved also when I add the subreport. After posting I found that when I had a subreport unto the graphic it shifts the text fields when in print preview.

llkhoutx- As for the absent code, I don't really think so. The only code is within the subreport and commented out code in the code behind. Which is the small part of vba code located on the website (with the step by step instructions).

Mr. Larson, I do play around with the subreport in design mode in order to get it to display nicely. However, when I do that, the text fields and subreport fields are misaligned.

Thanks for your guys quick replies and to anyone new reviewing this post, if you have any suggestions or solutions, I will greatly appreciate them.

Thanks in advance,

return of the shifters.....

Thanks for the quick reply Rich.

Yes I have tried every different alternative that I could find. I added the background image through the image frame, the ole unbound object, in the report properties. I did the zoom, clip, strech. I feel that I exhausted my search on it and that is why I am turnin to this forum.

The only way I can get the fields not to jump around like they are is by not adding the subreport, but unfortunately, I need the subreport in order to add multiple addresses of the same client. In fact I will need a lot more subreports by the time I am done with this.

If anyone can think of other alternatives, please let me know. I will greatly appreciate them.

Thanks in advance,

thanks to one and all

hey y'all,

it turns out i dont need that particular subreport anyways, so i used a part of that embedded subreport for my final invoice. thank you to one and all for your help. u guys are the greatest. and mr. larson was right about my subreport shifting all the other text boxes downwards. weird. oh and btw, i disconnected the links as posted above, i realized that i had actual users info posted freely on the net, so to protect their privacy.

shifting problem thereby solved!
