The same Font is displaying differently between a form and its sub-form

I have a Form to display Product information that has a sub-form that displays the Formulas related to the Products in the main form (see attached .JPG file). During QA testing, One of the users noticed that the font for the sub-form was larger than the font for the main form, and wanted me to mnake the fonts the same size. Seemed like an easy task to me, EXCEPT that when I examined the Format Characteristics of the two fields, they were EXACTLY the same. I have had several people view the form and they all agree that the text on the outside appears smaller then the text on the inside.

Am I missing some setting that overrides the default, or perhaps allows the font to have the best fit within its display area?

I would check the height of the rows in the sub-form and the height of the text-boxes and get then to match for starters. Then maybe try increasing the font size of the text-boxes if needed. Hope this helps.

In point of fact this is simply an optical illusion! A pair of calipers show that the size of identical characters are exactly the same on both form and subform. The difference in the perception of them is probably due to the fact that on the main form they appear surrounded by a solid color (red) instead of white space and the fact that on the main form the textbox is slightly shorter than it is on the subform.

Glad to see the problem is resolved. Have a good one.

Actually, the problem has not been resolved. I was preparing for Full System QA Testing all day yesterday, and did not get back to the forum to check the post before now. I was hoping that "Optical Illusion" would be the correct answer, but it does not appear that way. The users will accept it as it is, but I was just trying to tie off some last loose ends (as it were).

Well, if the heights are all the same and the fonts are all the same, then just increase the font size of the text box by 1 point and see how that looks, repeat till you get the desired appearance. Hope this helps.

I see. maybe I need a larger font outside to look like the one inside. I guess I was just looking to understand the reason that the fonts appear so different.

Can not really explain it, but sometime large font text are better and then there is the use of colored text as well. Different is not always a bad thing.
