Hi,

I am in the process of designing a database for a car sales company. The company sales cars and also buys cars back from its customers. How should I design my tables so that the database keeps track of each car as well as the sales and buy-backs of the car? (example: a customer purchased a Honda Civic in 2012 and sold the same car back to the company in 2013. I would like the database set up in a way that if I look up the Car ID, I will see the transaction history for the car)

Thank you for your help :)

When starting a new database I will start at the end.
Determine what it is you want out of the database first.
Just the cars you sold and bought back?
At you going to need the prices paid for each?
Sales person?
Trade in?
???????????

Before you ask your question you need to get paper and pencil, set down and decide what you are wanting your database to do.

You can not build tables if you don't know what data you will be storing.

Sounds like a fun project. May get complex, but fun.

Bring us a little more detail.

Dale
