Hi,
I'm stuck trying to tally and summarise some data.

I have clients with a current location.

Locations have a value for Facility A and value for Facility B. This is in a separate table as it can change over time.
I want to simplify it so that if a Location has Facliity A value > 0 then it's counted as A, else it's B

I want to end up with something like this:
CurrentLocationType TallyOfClients
A 18
B 12

I'm stuck on the simplification step and would be grateful for advice on how to do it.
Thanks.
Smin.

ps. wish this board would let me put tabs or more spaces between 'A' and '18' !

You should be able to do this in a query.

Create a query that is looking at your location field, then select the same field again so you have to columns with the same field name. Then in the icons at the top look for the autosum icon which you get in Excel, then that will add groupings in the bottom window, select the second group and you will see some calculation names, if you select count then when you preview the query you should get the result you need.

As long as I read your thread correctly, if not strip the database down and post it to the forum.
