Gday peoples.

I am currently trying to use Access to do some reporting on a database that i have no control over. There are 2 database involved, one contains all my specific details, the other is created by a third party application that lists alarms based on a system.

These alarms are listed under a column SourceType. this column lists the device name as a number, but what i want to do is use a table in MY database to exchange the number from this linked table in to a report in my MAIN table. I have set up a table with 2 columns, one being the device number according to the linked database, the other being the desired end result (text)

When i go to create a report, is there any way to output the data so that instead of having a number in Source type column, it pulls up the information in the text field of this other table?

Any help will be much appreciated. More than happy to give more details if needed.

Thanks for your help.

Good website you have their Bob. The MVP in your list, John Viescas, wrote the first book I had on Access 95. The series was called Running with one each for Access, Excel , Word and Powerpoint and different authors of course for the latter 3.

John is one of the original MVP's and is still one. He definitely has made a lot of contributions to the Access community.
