I would like to tweak my database so that when it opens for the users it will not show the minimize, maxamize, and close buttons at the top. Also, I would need code that will maximize my forms automatically. Let me know if this is not a good idea? I am trying to eliminate someone thinking that the close button will act as a cancel button. I dont want them to save information on accident since access saves automatically! (I already have a close without saving button on every form but people are used to closing document to not save them)

In the properties section of the form in question ... click on the 'Format' tab ... find the 'Control Box' property and set it to 'No'. This will disable the min, max and close button.

To maximize the form ... in the Open event of the form, code - docmd.maximize

taaadaaa! Hope that helps ...

Of course, of course! I have done this several times. In this case and prob several others you need to realize I have been using access for 4 weeks with no classes on it and I dont know what to search all the time...

This is a forum and I guess a database (no pun intended) of answers to search. I agree with both of those. I guess you can pick your side but I believe there is a happy medium where you can still re-ask stuff because of any number of reasons. Big reasons I can think of
- its more personable to your need
- builds relationships in forum
- keeps things active here

Now I am on a tangent that prob will score me another neat red tally mark for my name :( like the one in my signature  :D

Thank you QT!

Edit: When I change close button to "NO" It still shows it. Any ideas?

Edit 2: The maximize command puts the close button back because when I minimize they are not there like I told it to do. I dont know if there is a way to get around this one? Any Ideas?

Searching this forum is a great way to discover and learn the answers to your Access programming questions.

I prefer not to maximize forms. They do not have a professional appearance and they are more difficult to work with.

Check out the changebackgroundcolor.zip sample I have posted near the end of the thread... Hiding Database Window There is a lot of useful stuff in that thread that should help you out.

Did you come accross these threads during your searching of the forum?

Close button reappearing even though close button property is set to "No"

Maximize Access Window
