Barstards ...

If my council does something daft like this then i'll burn my rubbish -

I know that we should recycle more but this attitude only breeds resentment (typo?) .

What will be next - the death penalty for parking in a handicap zone?
Well maybe that is a bad example because people should be dismembered for that crime...

I'll go along with that , those people really piss me off, along with the young mums who still park in the mother and child slots when the kids aren't with them.

but what about fathers with young kids, we dont have special spots, and heaven forbid if I were to park in one when me and my son are out, he turns one on friday, I would get towed and fined too. talk about hypocrasy

What these prats aren't telling us is how much of the crap we're no longer allowed to bury here (thanks to the glorious EU:rolleyes: ) now gets shipped off to China.

Here it is just parent and child, or grandparent and grandchildren, I hope:eek:

For reasons I won't bore you with, I need to use a disabled space when we are both out. I went to the supermarket once, a man was in his car in a disabled space not displaying the blue (disabled) badge. I asked him to move and he was extremely angry I dared to ask him to move.
Rather than have a fight, I waited until his blonde bimbo came sprinting out and they drove off.

I love my nearest retail park - they are sticklers for the correct badge holders parking in the correct spots - I have seen them do 10s of cars in minutes for parking in disabled bays with no badges.

Serves the twats right - I don't even go to the retail park to shop anymore - I love it!

here in the UK , its parents not mothers , as long as you have a child seat then I think it's fair to use them .

I have seen parents with kids that can easliy walk use these and I have to carry my little monster

My mom worked at a grocery store, and jerkwads used to come early and park in the handicapped spots even when the rest of the parking lot was empty. The manager used to meet them at the door and tell them no one would ring them up until they went out and moved their car. :D

Yes you are all correct its parent and child , sorry for my bad call.
Gary its not whether they can walk or not but whether they need to be helped to strap in thus requiring the door to be fully open, same with the disabled in many cases its not the walking but the need to have the door open fully. Never worry about a disabled spot at Cosco as we can open the door fully and I can get the wife out.

To get back to the topic of the first post I find the service in Liverpool generally good, as are the Bin Men or whatever they are currently called, but one did take some artificial flowers out of my purple general bin and put them into my green garden waste bin last week!

As for the recycling, in my home town, we just have a huge bin with wheels in which we put all that goes to recycling. When I was in Montreal, we just had a tiny green box (1' high X 1' wide X 2' long) with separators in it and we had to sort everything in it. There was just not enough space for everything. So when you have a lot of paper, you have to put some with the glass, metal or plastic. I once received a note asking me not to mix it after I done that. Another time, I received another note because i left the paper around the cans and I had left metal caps on glass bottles. They told me it was my second and last notice and I would be fined the next time.

As for the handicap parking spot, I know someone who's wife is in a wheelchair. So he received the blue badge. But he always goes shopping alone and uses the handicap spots, even if she is not with him. He can't be towed since he has the badge, but that drives me crazy to know that he doesn't need to get in that spot while someone might realy need it. After all, he should know how troublesome it is to get out of the truck with a wheelchair in normal parking spots, since his wife has to do it sometimes.

He could be done here, infact at my last job I knew a special constable whose joy in life was booking people abusing the blue badge, which can be taken away from the owner if the abuse is repeated.

I think the fine and such were overkill. I wish that our unincorporated area would resume recycling of any sort, even a little bit, but Katrina killed our local recycling plant and it wasn't new to begin with. So until the money (and the priority) becomes available, it's all into the trash bins in suburban N'Awlins.

Why not petition the local authority to re-start one?
