Urgent - Making linked forms, like the wizard does but in design view!

DONE IT! DONE IT! WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!

SILLY ME WASN'T USING THE RIGHT FORM!

*gathers breath*

ok, you know the command you gave me for the default value for customerID in trip5? well i'd stopped using customer1 form so i just changed that to the one i was using!
DUH

I AM SUCH A RETARD!

thank you SO MUCH for persevering when i was acting like such a thicko, yu must have been so pissed off with me!

anyway, thank you again for you help! if there's anything i can ever help you with, let me know!

cheers again!

i've gotta just do the formatting again, and add a button for teh stupid telephone thingy, then add some query searches in, then sort out the switchboard so it goes to the right place, then delete all redundant files!

and it's only 8:27am! i'm ahead of schedule!

thanks wayne mate

We're done?

Can I go to sleep now?

See ya,
Wayne

Upping this thread because i'm having mad problems - hope wayne or anyone else can help!

I thought problems had been solved, but in solving them, i created a new problem!

Now, the queries don't work - the is no one to many relationship and now both customer and trip are subtables of each other! Wayne did say that to get this to work, each table must be a subtable of the other.

The real problem is that when i create a query which takes fields from both the two tables - i get no records coming up. What's happening is that the customer info is going into the customer table, the trip info is going into the trip table, but the subtables for both are blank!

The queries don't work - if i jig things about so that the relationship is one to many (and everythign works in datasheet form), then teh forms no longer work - when i use my current form and click the button to launch the (related/relevant) trip form, i get a message saying "The OpenForm action was cancelled" - when i make a new form, the forms/tables aren't linked again - same problem i started off with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do i get the subtables of each record to come up with the correct relevant info?

Cheers - goign round in circles here! Got myself into a mess - good job i've backed up!

Maybe i should post this a fresh post - people might not wanna read 3 pages of my tripe!

Thanks again

Edd

wayne - the way you told me to do it - when i go and look at the relationship diagram, it gives me a one to one relation between customerID from the 'customer' table, and the tripID from the trip table!! I don't kno whow it works, but it's giving me hassle!

How can i get it to link the subtables of both tables?

I think the problem is this:

there is a one to one relation from customerID in the customer table to tripID in the trip table. the trip subdatasheet in the customer table does NOT include the tripID field - i don't know why but i think this is affecting everything

can anyone help

Cheers

really?

i sent it to your hotmail account?

anyway i'll send another one (minus any pictures) right away!

infact, it's been sent!

did you get it mate?

the reason i need this to work is so that the client can search for customers buy searching for all people going to x or y destination.

is there a better way to do it without queries? the problem remains that if a search is done on the trip form then the corresponding customer form will NOT be brought up at present.

i've looked around everywhere (books etc) and i can't really think of a way of doing it so i was thinking that just making a query with all customer details (minus the check boxes) and most COMMON fields that might need to be searched from teh trip table (destination, payment recieved, departure/arrival dates - they're things that they may want to search for) and then the user can search FROM THAT QUERY.

So that's why i need the queries working - if you know a better way to do searching then let us know!

Ps- is there a better way to search than using the filter? When showing what i had to the client they moaned that using the filter was *far* too difficult

Cheers
