Hi I have a main form with 2 linked subforms one showing targets and one in continuous forms view showing results, how can I get the results fields to be highlighted if values above or below values in equivalent target fields?
I tried using conditional formatting but it doesnt work.

if values above or below values in equivalent target fields?
Not really a coherent sentence. No idea what that means, please rewrite a clear question.

it doesnt work
About as much use as a chocolate fireguard. :(

You need to show what you tried?

I thought it was quite clear.

main form is
frmMain linked to multiple products each with their own targets and results

subforms are frmTarg_672 and frmRes_672

Target subform frmTarg_672 contains fields for target minimum and maximum e.g.
trg_Salt, trg_Salt_Min and trg_Salt_Max

Results subform frmRes_672 contains a single related field res_Salt

(each subform has multiple criteria Salt is just one)

I am trying to highlight res_Salt when the valus entered is either above trg_Salt_Max or below trg_Salt_Min

I have tried conditional formatting but maybe my syntax is wrong or there is a different option

Just need the name of the control. [Trg_salt_Min].
Do not need the form reference.

you need to add the Target date/value to your Result (using query).
then use Conditional format comparing result value/date against Target value/date.
see this demo.
