I'm teaching myself how to use the user-level security wizard; however, I am running into a roadblock.

I used a sample database to practice and saved it to a network drive. After running the user-level security wizard, my database was secured and a backup was saved as .bak.

I shut down Access.

I restarted Access.

I attempted to open the file but received the following message:
"You do not have the necessary permissions to use 'G:\Admin\TestDatabase.mdb' object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you."

I created the permissions. I set my level to Admin. How do I access the file?????

Any assistance would be appreciated!!!

Hi Scott:

Security is the biggest problem for most people because they don't read the Security Faq on Microsoft's website first. And I don't mean skim through it. Read it all. Several times. Then you will have a better understanding. Search MS under Knowledge Base, under Access for "Security Faq".

The problem you are currently having is you are trying to access the db by using File, Open. You must use the shortcut that Access Security wizard created. It loads the appropriate workgroup so that you can get to the login prompt.
