Hi all, :D Please help!

Hoping someone could offer me some advice. I am making a database for project managers, but I need to be able to monitor their logins. I am relativly new to access but after much learning I have managed to get a database up and working but now I am ironing out some finer points.

What i am doing is creating a welcome splash screen which asks for their unique user ID (IdNL).
I have a table called tblUserNL which has the fields UserNL and LoginDate.

What i need to do is have a combo box or autofilling text box that allows users to input there IdNL and saves/updates this into to a tblUserNL with the current date that they enter the DB. These must not be limited to the list, new users should also be able to under their unique IdNL's and this be saved too.

Many thanks and kindest regards,

Ive given a few methods a go, including running a query to apend data to a table but I cant seem to get things to work. I am using access 2007 to create this database.

I am using an input mask for the unique ID number, and have to go on good faith that they enter credentials correctly as it is for their benefit, and its only to moniter their usage of the tool. So hopefully mickey mouse wont log on. There will be aproximatly 150 users of this. I cannot enter their IDs as I dont have a list of these, this is why they need to be able to enter it as a new entry which can then be totalled up in a table. Only the very senior directors know who's ID belongs to who if you see my meaning. I

ve actually got quite far with the database (which isnt for data entry just data review) just for some reason I am having problems here.
Many thanks
