I am fairly new to developing with Access.

I would really value some advice on changing text direction in crosstab query column labels.

I have just created a crosstab query to function as a training matrix. It has rather long column labels (there are good practical reasons for this), which makes the query very wide and difficult to print one one page.

Is there a way to change the text direction of the column headings so they are printed running up the page?

I know how to change text direction in Word or Excel, but not Access.

At the moment I am copying the query results into Excel and manipulating the text direction in Excel, but this is rather cumbersome.

Thanks in anticipation of any help.

Working with Crosstabs in Access is very restricted... You could make a report and do it, but it is very hard.

The easiest way (I think) would be to export (automated) to excel and (automated) make the layout adjustments you need/want.

Thanks

Thanks for that. I know how to import into Excel automatically, so I will use that option. If I have the spreadsheet preserve formatting whenever the data source is updated, then I guess I only have to format it once.

You would think Microsoft could get their act together to allow text oreintation to be chnaged in Access. Maybe in a future version ....

I agree with you on Crosstab queries, they are pretty restrictive, and normally I avoid them at all costs, but they are perfect for training matrixes!!

Thanks for your advice, much appreciated.
:D

Funny how one can be helping someone on the exact oposite of the world.

I too avoid running crosstabs where ever possible. Terable things they are... to work with, but for some things you just cannot go around them...

Good luck :)
