Hi,

I have a question, if I have Visual Studio.Net, Can I run the ASP file directly in the Visual Studio.Net application without install IIS?

Thanks.

If you are talking about VS.NET 2003, I don't know of a built-in server...VWD 2005 Express (free version) has a built-in web server emulator.

I take it your limitation is that you have WinXP Home? Regardless of what MS says, you CAN run IIS on WinXP Home...it's just not a straight-forward process. I have IIS running on my Sony Vaio with WinXP Home...it's been a while, not sure if I could repeat the process w/o re-doing all the research.

I have VWD 2005 expression version on my lap top and it won't let my run my programs. I tells me it is missing a file. I think it has something to do with IIS. I don't know. I have XP Home edition and someone told me to install IIS, but fromm the sounds of it, it sounds like an ordeal. I'll research tonight and see what I come up with. If not, I call upon y'all.. *sweet smile* :D

Have you taken a look at the ASP Server thread?

install IIS isnt hard, its simply going to add/remove components in control panel add/remove programs, select IIS, frontpage ext etc and there you go (put in CD).

See :

Hope this helps.

It can be that easy if you have Windows XP Professional Edition. If you have Windows XP Home Edition it is a little more tricky. http://adamv.com/dev/articles/iis-on-xp-home
