Ken, you seem like a reasonable guy. I'm sorry, but I'm firmly of the opinion that your boys over there killing and being killed are there to ensure gas prices stay at a level that wont provoke riots in the streets. And to line some pockets in a few large companies. And to put down some little upstart who thought he could refuse to do what he was told. And to avenge poor Daddy.

What 'group' or 'groups' are you speaking of? I'll have a word with them :p

It's impossible to assume what type of groups of Americans gather at our county fair every year, unless you see them with your own eyes :p

Tell that to Bambi ... :p

I'll have to do something about that...

(Just kidding :p )

And I think they are there because somebody had to take Saddam out. But all of that is beside the point. I don't think we should ever call into question the character of our service men and women. What are their options - act on their own agendas? I think not...

I'm still curious as to what you think us Americans stand for and I'd like to hear why you think such...

There's a gang hang out somewhere around 1600 Penn. Avenue that have been p*ss*ng me off for a while, can you start with them? In case you get done there before I give a more comprehensive list, you can move on to the NRA. Especially that Heston muppet

Pretty good :p :p :p

I'll see what I can do... (Don't expect much :o ) :D

Why? Because he was a threat to you? Oooops, no evidence of that in the rubble. Because he was a threat to his own peoples? Oooops, Korea has been murdering its citizens for years, and nobody has stopped by there with the odd battalion yet have they? Because he helped in 9/11? (Don't laugh, please, as a Washington Post survey in '02 found that 4 in 10 polled thought Bin Laden and Saddam were *the same person*!!!

Well, yes, its an option. I think I've already read about a number of grunts who are on a court martial for refusing to go. I /know/ I've read about Brits who have refused.

I gave you a couple to start you off :)

Ok, ok.... If I take mine down will you stay? :p

It's not like I think supporting the troops or heart cancer foundations or whatever is bad...it is just that there are so MANY of these ribbons everywhere. It became a fashion instead of a cause, I think. I had a friend who wore like three of those rubber wrist-bands, made popular by that bicycle guy, that said things like "couage" and "hope" on them. He wore them to be cool...and I think that's hypocritical--NOT that you're hypocritical. Whew *wipes brow*. I think I narrowly missed that insult. There is enough hate on this thread already without me adding to it.:D

Sorry, I read back and didn't see any specific issues... Given that you seem quite anxious to belittle us plus the fact that you are somewhat articulate... I hoped you wouldn't want to appear to be back peddling on your comments. Do you really want me to boil your comments down into my own version of what I think you hate about what we Americans stand for...

That's quite alright, I've been called worse around here... But the more I hang around here with Kraj, the more level headed I get...;)

GWB
NRA
All Marines, but especially the ones with the "Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" mentality
The NAACP
Most of the Senate
Anyone employed at or in any way connected with Guantanamo
Anyone with a car engine larger than 2 litres
Everyone connected with the Dukes of Hazzard, and that Eric bloke off CHiPS with the dodgy wig.
That'll do to be going on with, when you're done get back to me

Sorry I kept bugging you... I really thought you'd have a little more substance than that.... :(

Sorry to have disappointed you.

No problem...:) :)

Have you ever been to America?
Only overnight, both times en route to a cruise. Am I disbarred from having an opinion on US culture unless I've spent a month experiencing it first?

It starts at the top and works its way down :D :D :D

The original poster did say flag flying in their Garden, in your pic the flag is flying from the roof.
Don't Americans know the difference between a roof and a garden?

Not at all. I think it's good you have an opinion instead of not caring at all - But you do have an opportunity here and now to dig a little deeper and find out what we are really like instead of hearing it all on the TV...

For example, I think the NRA goes a bit overboard and I'm a southern guy that likes to hunt  ;)

Why would anyone in their right mind want to?
St. Martin/St. Maarten, Antigua, Grenada, St. Lucia, and quite a few more are lovely places to visit, sufficiently worthy to ensure a night in mainland US to get there ;)
