Once upon I time, I would vote for a democrat, but with the lastest BS they've pulled, it would take a real JFK type candidate for me to vote blue. I grew up in Chicago and I have seen the worst kind of political BS and corruption done locally and statewide. He was real unpopular with conservatives of the time - there are even reports where some were even cheering his demise. After reading on some of his policies, I'm not completely sold on how good history has been to him.

If the conspiracy theorists are accurate about how his death was tied to his authorizing Silver Certificates, then I applaud him, but for the most part, his policies were socialist smell to them.

He garnered 19% of the popular vote depriving H.W. Bush a second term and giving Bill Clinton the win.

I haven't been able to find anything definitive on the idea that Perot's voters would have voted republican or democrat. For every article I find supporting one view, there is another debunking it. It has been repeated so often (like the Jane Fonda/POW story) that most people just accept it has facts.

A lot of people assume Independent really means, "I would otherwise be Democrat", but think of Rand Paul. Yes, he registers as Republican, but I believe he could easily be libertarian, and I personally think of him as more like that. If he ran as an Independent or whatever else, he would be taking Republican votes surely.

"moderates" is in the eyes of the beholder. There isn't anyone who disagrees with the current liberal party line that they would consider to be a moderate. Anyone who disagrees with them is a right-wing lunatic is a racist and wants a civil war. That is because the Fascists of the left have no introspection. Look at the gathering field after a Republican rally to see the difference. Do you see garbage and destruction all around yourself? No, Republicans are responsible, respectful, law abiding citizens for the most part. They don't trash police cars or burn the local businesses. They don't go on killing sprees every weekend in cities like Chicago.

Listen to Biden's horrific speech from two weeks ago and substitute "jews" for "MAGA" and you tell me who is the evil one channelling Hitler and weaponizing the government to rid the population of people who don't agree with the current party line. This was an absolutely terrifying speech. Just listen to a speech made by Hitler in the 30's and make an honest comparison. What would have happened if the Germans hadn't been so cowed by the Democratic Socialists? Would the holocaust have occurred? Would WWII have happened? In the beginning, Hitler had only a few thousand followers. How did they get the average German to just shut up and go along? Isn't that what the Cancel Culture is attempting to do? Make you afraid to say anything because you don't want to be cancelled? I think our young people simply do not understand what happened in the 30's in Germany and how it happened and so it is happening again 100 years later in the US.

Maybe 25 years ago, while I was living in Chicago, I had the need to take a taxi one evening. I hailed a taxi, and after giving instructions as to where I was going, the young and friendly driver and I engaged in a conversation. I noticed that he had an accent, and I asked him where he was from, and while I don’t remember where that was, I remember that it was not a particularly great place to live. He asked about me, and what I did, and towards the end we talked about the situation in the Middle East, where he was from. He was in college here, in pre-med, and was driving a taxi to earn his keep while attending school. His words haunt me even more now with the country being rendered apart by hate and revenge. I am older and one of the lessons I’ve learned in my life is to “be careful what you wish for, because you’re liable to get it.” We have a prosperous society, and we live well. But, the tide is turning. American isn't actually racist (yes we have individual racists). Anyone can make it in America and that is why immigrants want to come here. We have vocal minorities who are working on educating the masses as to what is really going on. Why to immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean and Asia do very well in the US? Simple, they didn't grow up thinking they were victims and the world owed them something. They took the opportunity to come here and they worked to make something of themselves and whitey didn't stop them. How about that!

I agree with your last paragraph. I've been to some bad places, but one of the worst was Port au Prince, Haiti, when Papa Doc was running the show down there. It was awful. I don't blame people living in place that will never get better for wanting to come here. If I were in their shoes I would too. But I don't believe that we can just open the boarders. I kind of think maybe we should try and fix the problems from whence they come. I will also note that I have a number of really good Doctors that aren't from around here.

But I do think the the Donald broke the law, and should account for it. Particularly with regard to the documents he took with him for reasons only he knows. Leverage or cash, or both. 25 Years ago, I was told by a real estate developer that I did some GIS work for, to never get involved with anyone from the Trump Organization, because he never pays his bills. He then added, Trump is a known deadbeat. Trump also stiffed a lot of people in the development of the Trump Tower in Chicago.

BTW: George Will said that the Democrats put up the only biped on the planet that would loose to Donald Trump.
