Check out my pics in my album.

Today, we had a little visit from the police about 2 AM. We went outside to find that a car had come down the hill, skidded across the road and over this big rock that is at the top of a burm that separates our property from the main street. It then skidded across the yard and into a tree - missing our house by about 2 feet. They then tried backing out but the incline of the hill and the big rock stopped them (the lady was booked on a Driving While Under the Influence charge). So, we now have a very ripped up backyard.

What a way to start the day (I went to bed only 2 hours before and have been up since they notified us so I am extremely tired and my brain is foggy).

Hard to make out details out of the pictures but going by description, I hope they string the driver high and dry. Glad you're okay, though...

Well that sounds like good fortune to me Bob.
In the eye of the storm, and nothing to show for it.

Wow, crazy, I am glad your house wasn't hit.

Considering the pics were taken at about 2:30 AM, it was hard to get a really good perspective picture as it is pretty dark in the back there. It would have been much easier to see, perhaps, if my back door light wasn't out (been meaning to change that thing...:D)

Fortunately no one was damaged and nothing irreplacable was destroyed.
Maybe a blessing in disguise: one less drunk on the roads, opportunity to put in the fish pond with waterfall feature you have always wanted...

Glad you're ok!

Me too - it was a bit unnerving to go out and see how close it came to actually taking out a part of our house right near the bedroom where we were sleeping. If it had gone off a slight bit to the left, I might not be here today because it might have just flown through the bathroom walls and into our bed which is next to the bathroom. The walls are not that sturdy (manufactured home and all).

Nothing like the occasional mortality check to keep you feeling alive. ;)

I admit to having a little chuckle at the yellow parking permit sticker.

Just saw the pics, don't think the driver would gotten very far even if they could have backed out. Looks like they had a busted radiator and possibly wheel damage. (Love those guardian angels!!!)

Oh yeah the car was beat up. It also had a broken axle. There would have been no way they could have gotten the car up the hillside and out the same way they came in. They would have had to drive around the side of our house and out the front way. The angle is just too steep for a car to make if up the hill. The tow truck left a few deep trenches where the car was dragged along the ground and up the hill.

Buy a raffle ticket and see if your good fortune will last a little longer.:D

We drive on country roads when in New Zealand and I always wonder why people put a house right on a tight bend when all you see is empty land everywhere.

Of course in a suburb you don't expect cars to run off the road in such a way.

Glad you and your family are all safe Bob. :)
