What's all this we've had spread all over our news here in the UK?

The undercover FBI pick on an innocent Muslim bloke, brainwash him and train him to kill. Then set him up with a fake bomb to blow away half the populace of Portland when the Xmas tree lights are being switched on. The bomb doesn't explode (as it's a fake) then they arrest him and he's now on trial as a terrorist.

They reckon he won't get off on an entrapment plea because he's Muslim (no others have over the last 10 years), so he'll do a long stretch because the FBI say he's a terrorist. Yet prior to meeting up with them he had no inclination in that direction.

Arn't the Yanks just great?

I'm always a little distrustful of stories like this as they directly support certains persons slanted notions of the USA and its institutions.

If the facts you allege are correct, it will never get to trial as it is obviously entrapment, the person in question had no intention of performing the act until the FBI talked him into it.

Methinks there is probably much more to the story that has not come out. As is generally the case when a potential criminal cries entrapment, the law enforcement agency involved has much better and important work to be doing than manufacturing the situation you describe.

I have seen no mention of this in the UK media. Perhaps the OP could give us some more information before starting an anti-US thread

Nor me, so all over the UK media sounds as far fetched as the story.

Do we really want or need this type of thing within UK Access World Forums? Whether it’s true or not, I just think it’s the wrong place, and is possibly just designed to stir up to friction. Some sort of troll I reckon.

Quite agree. No need to cause trouble

Actually, the facts are a bit different. The would-be bomber was trying to find someone to help him in a jihad. He had posted in on a forum that he thought was frequented by others of like mind, but it was one that was watdhed by the FBI. He had also talked to friends who reported him to the local authorities, who then contacted Homeland Security. An FBI agent began corresponding and then meeting with him. The mode and method of the potential attack were all conceived by the erstwhile terrorist. The FBI agent merely provided the hanging rope. Here Stateside and especially here in the Pacific Northwest we are GLAD that this plot was intercepted and so efficiently brought to a conclusion without injury or loss of life of hundreds of innocent people who were there to celebrate the Christmas season.

If you think otherwise, I sincerely hope that your friends and loved ones are not maimed or killed in a similar attack that is not detected and derailed.

Chipper, Thanks for that clarification. I think some of us were concerned that the OP was trying to fan up the Anti-US feelings that used to occur on this forum. 9 terrorist suspects have been arrested and appeared in court in the UK today so we have nothing against the FBI for trying to catch potential killers

He was and is closely being watched because if it degrades further then he will be locked out, again.

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with the original post. It's full of misinformation and personal opinion, but it's not directly attacking any specific person on the forums, nor is it full of profanity. I think most people will see these "facts" as one-sided and write it off as such.

This is no more entrapment than an undercover detective posing as a prostitute to catch would-be Johns. If the suspect supplies all of the ideas, then he can be arrested for the attempt.

I wonder just how many suspects have been successfully prosecuted in the courts here during the past ten years? Seems the paranoid Bush,Bliar era still exists

Except for one incident possibly, I cannot recall every word written during that unfortunate time, that has always been the norm for Rich and Colin's posts. However many of your countrymen take attacks/insults/whatever against the USA personally and that i think was as big a problem as the constant and annoying hijacking of threads. But as Shane said when I met him when over there he knew where they were coming from, they are wind up merchants and people fall for it.

Indifference destroys more surely than hate or anger, ignore the posts and they will stop or at least become fewer.

I admit that I do get a bit riled at blatant anti-Americanism just as I get riled at any blatant racist remarks. But if I recognize it as mere baiting of immature individuals whose only joy in life is to cause trouble on the Internet, I feel more pity than anger and I will usually let it go after a comment such as I post above to insure the true facts are known to others. After all, these poor, pathetic individuals obviously need some sort of attention, even negative, as they evidently lead just limited existences that no attention can be garnered anywhere else.

You're believing the news, Dave? That is by far, the biggest mistake. Even bigger than targeting muslim citizens for crimes they didn't committ, even if that scenario is true.

Believing what you see on TV is just as bad as being sold by automated internet ads based on click history!

And reading the posts here from the UK based people, that reminds me of the recent past, where the UK fell flat on it's face because of incompetent economic polices. And the country hurt for a long while, I remember. And now we're following right along in your footsteps, and we're finally almost at the point where we're going to fall over just like you did, for the same reasons.

So who is ignorant? Looks like humans, regardless of the country.

Eh ?

what do you mean ''eh''?? It was all over the news just a few years ago. Didn't you see those stories?!? I believe everything the news tells me, and I never stray from that rule. I live my life by it. They are always right.

Why is it that, every time I see the topic "Fake Bombs" in the New Posts list my brain automatically renders it "Fake Boobs"?
