Super Bowl

Real football is that English invention that has been taken up by the rest of the world, it is played with the feet, no legal use of the hands with the exception of the goalkeeper, the clue is in the name.

This may be true but I cannot watch a competion where the end result is Nil All and the supporters go away and say what a great game.

Yes there are people who only find excitement in high numbers. :D

Brian

Not correct at all.

We get very excited with low numbers, when it is the opposition. :)

LOL
but only if they are lower than our own teams of course

Seriously nil nil can be an exciting game and 9 1 boring.

The score does not always reflect the excitement of the game.

I will believe you.

Thousands wouldn't.

I can understand 4 - 4 but 0 - 0 I don't think so. But I guess the muggings and the odd murder or two does add to the excitement.

You are starting to sound like Colin talking about the US.

It is true that 4-4 is likely to be more exciting than 0-0 , but that does not mean that 0-0 is automatically boring, and that I thought was the issue.

I would add that true football fans appreciate fine defending as much as attacking.

Brian

"defending as much as attacking."

In the stands by the fans.

Not real football! OMG - I better change my Facebook Time Line LOL

The other sport some nice couple took me to see was Cricket (sp?)
There was this indoor family place in Melbourne. Again, just clueless, but somewhat like baseball? Just guessing it might be on a smaller playing field.
American Baseball - zero to zero scores.
Here in the Mile High City (we don't subscribe to the Metric system) we have Mile High Stadium.
The thinner air provides all kinds opportunity of new record for distance.
Not like the old days when the players set records for knocking a ball into a 30 mph headwind in a corn field.
But, I don't have patience for a 0 to 0 baseball game filled with announcements of how much some guy's contract is worth.

Professional Hockey, these guys make too much to actually bump into each other. Give me good old fashion College Hockey.
Now, that is a place where 0 to 0 can be very exciting.
My graduate school University of Denver has some great Canadian hockey players. Our Canadian hockey players are better than our competition's Canadian hockey players - so we do great!

I heard that Canada hockey is why people built igloos - because of the flying pucks. :D

I love the ICE Hockey. My young fella used to play it. But only three teams in the Comp. Very costly making water hard in 90 degree temperature.

Cricket. I forgot. After 5 days it can be a draw.

Aussie Rules footy starts the preseason comp in about 4 weeks. Bring it on. The head hunters from USA come here looking for kickers.

Baseball is basically the game of rounders which our schoolgirls play.

Basketball is basically netball which our schoolgirls play.

American football is a derivation of rugby.
But obviously the American version is much more aggressive with players attacking each other even if they don't have the ball.
Plus there is the necessity to extinguish the lights and have a 30 minute break partway through the game.

One of the most exciting inter-country games is of course cricket, especially the ashes series against Australia. The 1981 series was spell binding.

Occasionally, it's acceptable to break this into two 15 minute intervals. I think these have to be approved by the anarchist Roger Goodell though.

Highlight of an aussie reules players career - being offered to teh chance to play something else somewhere else?

Do they have to give up the drugs if they leave - I mean AFL allows drug use - 3 times if caught - but as much as you want - as long as you report yourself. Is that way they have behinds - cos they are all off their faces?

Its a joke of a sport.

To be offered $Millions instead of $Thousands is a bit hard to refuse.

Can't you come up with something better than a Behind joke. They have been done to death. An average 6 year old could do better than that.

American Footballers have seen the game and stated that they would not play because it is too rough for them. Especially without protection.

On a serious note. If you were following the news the drug problem with all codes in OZ has become a very big issue. Even the Government is stepping in.
