Creating New Records Using Option Groups with forms

Dependent Option Groups within a Form

Hi,

Is someone able to point me in the right direction with my form? I cannot seem to find any solutions online for what I'm after (which usually means my set up is wrong ).

I've attached the db. Within it there's a form which gives the user the option to enter a reference, then pick from multiple options from 3 option Groups.

The first group is straight forward - A, B & C.

Ideally I would like the next two groups to work dependently. For example if the user selects "1" from option group 2, then only options "2" & "3" are available in option group 3.

Is this possible?

And if so, how do i get them to be added to the SampleLog?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

it is better to do it with combobox, not option group.

Thanks for the reply - I know what you mean. I'd have no problems if I was using combo boxes, but this is really important to it's function so I've got to use option groups.

I've gone with them as the user needs to see all the options available at once and avoid double clicking. If there's another way of doing this without using option groups, I'd love to hear it...

how about listbox, instantly it will show which one is available.

It just beeps at me whenever I click something and the entry form asks me to define the parameters for option" form?

Okay,

Now I think I'm getting somewhere

I've recreated the Form and this time linked it with the SampleLog (something I should have done in the first place! ).

This has allowed me to reference the particular field when creating each of the option groups.

I've also made the entry form as a pop-up window

I only need now to restrict the options available in option 3 group, dependent on what the user selected in option 2 group.

The table within db called "Display Options" shows that if option 1 is selected within option 2 group, then option 3 group should only display 1 & 2.

Anyone any ideas or pointers on how i can achieve this?
