..... cant find the parts needed to repair it in this country, oddly enough the nearest place listed was in the US and obviously the shipping costs would be out of the question, somebody suggested that I might try writing to the factory in Italy, praise the bike up to the hilt etc and keep my fingers crossed

Thanks Ron, I'll try and work on the letter over the weekend,though it's a holiday here Monday so it may not be 'till Tuesday

Sorry to hear of your problem Rich, the main thing is your grandson is not only physically ok but mentally ok even boasting by the sounds of it.

Pity it hadn't happened earlier as just back from Italy and could have taken a copy of letter for translation as there were more Italians in our little hotel than brits, plus our Bulgarian rep spoke loads of languages fluently.
I can order food and drink , who needs more, normally.
