Images from the Mid-Atlantic

I took the liberty to look at some of your other albums - Is that bar with all the custom wood work the same stuff you posted pictures of on a woodworking project a while back? I thought I remember you posting pictures of a woodworking project you were working on...
It sure is. One and the same.

Wow - That turned out great! Is that in your basement?!?

Thank you Ken,

That was the last job i did before closing my shop, the pictures really don't show all the details, we didn't light it, we just shot some photos. I under bid it by $45,000 to $50,000, so it was the death knell of my woodworking business.

So the pictures in the album were of the complete project? If you don't mind me asking what the total job paid and what should it have paid?

It is amazing. Your pub is about as big as my house lol! Very well done though. I don't get the "under bid" thing though? Do you mean you went that much over budget? If so, I'm sure Edinburgh council can arrange a few contracts for you, they'd be pleased with anything less than a couple of million over budget.

Ken also made a fantastic job of his house, ask him to let you see the pictures!

You are deliberatly trying to confuse me now aren't you? :D

It paid $40,000 but depending on local conditions it should be between $80,000 and $100,000

The woodwork hard maple; complying with in level 4 Architectural Millwork, which means no surface fasteners, blemishes kept below certain sizes, etc, etc,

The finish is rated level 4 for appearance and rated to level 3 for durability.

The entire job was prefinished in the shop and installed on site using blind fasteners and glue.

We also provided the tile floors in the bar are.

That was a for-hire job I did a little while ago. Underbidding broke me.

Ah, now I understand. I thought it was in your house!

That's a great pity though, to achieve such a wonderful job and have it bite you in the back side like that.

I went on to designing homes full time for the next 2 years, it’s a wonderful journey, one thing ends, another begins.

You must have been tinkering with wood for a while to do that level of work.

Here's a link to the pics of our home that we moved into last year. We moved in too late in the fall to do much landscaping. That's next on my honey do...

I have few more pics. I'll see if I can find them and update the photobucket site with them...

Good for you! So you don't do that anymore, you now design databases?

You know in the Tarot we have a saying that there are no endings only new beginnings. Of course sometimes the series of events that bring about those new beginnings can appear to be devastating, but a new beginning is always on the horizon.

Nice home Ken, and they built it with rafters, very cool. You’ll enjoy that attic space.

Thanks - :)

I must say we both have learned to become more patient. Having fussed over a million issues building the house we lost her father in September, everything takes on a much different perspective - :)

I have always created databases for my own small businesses. The US government thought it would apply to TSA as well.

After that I lost access to that camera and was forced to resort to using my Fujifilm FinePix S5200.

I’ve played around with the setting and I’m pretty much getting all I can get out of it.

It’s extremely slow and the color depth is lacking compared to the Canons.

My next Camera is going to be a Canon 50D with the same lens as before.

I have the fuji 6900, why we do we share the same thoughts:eek:;)
