Question Selecting Drop Down Value with closest date

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Yes you are correct with your data representation. You are also correct about the name field, in reality I used something else but I wanted to make the question easy to understand (apologies I shouldn't have used "name" here). The listbox is bound, the ID is used...

Question Selecting Drop Down Value with closest date

Hi, I have a drop down list populated by a query as below: SELECT id, name, name_start_date FROM tbl_name ORDER BY name_start_date DESC; I would like this list to still be available but the default value to select the closest id for the record with the name_start_date that is nearest the...

    MS Access and Office 365

Hi, I now see Access has been removed from Office 365 susbcriptions - the only alternative is buying a single license by the look of it. Is there a way to migrate Access Databases to SharePoint (which I understand is included within Office 365 and obviously allows access online). Thanks, we...

    MS Access and Office 365

I assume by these responses Office 365 has nothing to offer?

    MS Access and Office 365

I mean thats the cheapest/easiest but one employee would lose access as they don't work on site.

    MS Access and Office 365

Hi, We have an access database that is mission critical to our small business. We use to track orders etc. It has been stored on Dropbox for over a year which has worked fine as only 1 person has been accessing it. Unfortunately we now have a few employees and need to move to a solution that...

Question Access 2010 migration from 2007 corruption

So this morning I tried to restore the file but couldn't as it was in use...I dialled onto the user who was using the database and could see the open database..it appeared to be working fine. I closed it and reopened it and it worked fine. I then asked the user who reported the problem to try...

Question Access 2010 migration from 2007 corruption

thanks, is that likely to cause the corruption across the databases. The corruption today was being accessed by 10 people, I know for a fact they all received a front-end copy of the database by email and were explicitly told to put it on desktop/folder and to remove any existing shortcuts from...

Question Access 2010 migration from 2007 corruption

well ...thats the million dollar question but I believe so...yes. I think it likely they are as it's actually a few different access databases and they are across various teams within my organisation so I would hate to think each distinct team is not following instructions...but I can't 100% be...

Question Access 2010 migration from 2007 corruption

No, it's a LAN - conventional file server's share and yes it's only tables in the back end. I am actually considering saving back to a .mdb file to see if that improves things..

Question Access 2010 migration from 2007 corruption

On the most recent problematic database I advised them to use their own copy of the front ends. I explicitly said not to use a shortcut of the front end. I have also tested both the front end and the _be...the _be is the one which is corrupt, i can access the front end without any problems.

Question Access 2010 migration from 2007 corruption

Hi, We have recently migrated the employee's computers from Windows XP SP3 and Office 2007 to Windows 7 and MS Office 2010. Since this upgrade our helpdesk has received a high number of calls related to MS Access databases that were working fine in Access 2007. Unfortunately whilst some of...

Question Add New Record - Button

Quick addition, if I create a blank form with the same record source I can add a new record....any thoughts? I really don't want to have to recreate this form...probably hundreds of fields,8 tabs and a bunch of search fields.

Question Add New Record - Button

The form navigation button is also "disabled" even though it's property setting is "yes". The record source is a table btw, not a query and the table does have a primary key.

Question Add New Record - Button

Hi, Help - My Add New Record button doesn't work....The backstory is a little complicated but essentially this was an Access 95 database that was upgraded through office 2003 to Office 2007 a few years ago (.accdb converted). The database became corrupted post Office 2010 installations a few...

    Continuous form textbox pre-population

ultimately that didn't work for me, first of all Access complains about editing an existing field to Autonumber but even so the column does contain the odd null and out-of-range integers. Regardless I managed to get a solution working by using the "after-insert" event of the form control...

    Continuous form textbox pre-population

The ID is updated outside of the database, whilst the database will have 99% of the records related to this "ID" it will not be 100%. An Autonumber would be wrong if an ID is incorrectly used/amended/added outside the database without being internal. The ID source has also changed twice in a...

    Continuous form textbox pre-population

Hi, I am really hoping to use a continuous form to allow users to quickly enter any number of records. One of the fields in this continuous form is an ID (not a foreign key, actually not a key in the database but crucial for other purposes) which is incremental from the last one stored in a...

Strange Query behaviour - text as symbols?!

Yeah that was it, I was grouping on the memo! I changed it to a field of type text and it worked. Thanks
