A Father’s Bragging Rights.

Don't you mean American Gardian.

Col are you implying that I used fear and intimidation to mould my daughter into something she did not want to be?
Stop being paranoid. your daughter has done very well. However. . .

Fact - many kids of today are way out of control, drugs, violence, anti-social behaviour etc.

Fact - many kids today (in the UK at least) are drunken alcoholics at age 14 and have possible renal problems (ref Panorama BBC1 last night)

Fact - many kids also live in isolation and never know how to interact because they prefer the PS2 or the TV in their room.

So, parents try to "encourage" the kids to get good grades by promising stuff - money, a car or whatever. That could be construed as bribery and corruption.

Its well known that the USA survives on bribery and corruption at all levels, the police, the military, the awarding of government contracts etc etc

So, offering kids "incentives" is tantamount to conditioning the kids to learn that to "get on" in life, corruption and bribery is the way to go, especially in the USA.

I’m not sure if your just being your typical anti America self here, or if your actually believe the argument you’re putting forth.

I'm offering an opinion generally. View it how you like.

Fact - Having not had any children of your own, your opinion on the subject is about as worthless as your anti American dribble. Oh wait... you may have seen something about kids on tv ...:p :p

Well that wasn't very nice.

What does that mean 'stuff it'? Is that some kind of gutter trash talk you read in one of your tabloid? If old men like you talk like that then it's no wonder your young people don't know right from wrong...;)

I just hope that Jenny's daughter doesn't turn out like you.
I hope Jenny has taught her not to be a rude arrogant know it all so called christian, who delights in personally attacking people when they offer a different slant on something.

I'll let you decide what "stuff it" means

What have I said that was rude or arrogant? And what makes me come across as 'holier-than-thou'? (I'll give you the moderator thing;) :D )

Aha - I was expecting this, its the old "oh dear. . what have I done?" bloody innocent trip.

Just because someone may not have children (or may have, you don't know for sure) in some way, (inside your little closed white picket fenced mind) it gives you the authority to totally dismiss an opinion as being shite?

And what makes me come across as 'holier-than-thou'?
You claim to be a christian yet never display any of the "guidelines" (see my comment above)
You judge my answer as being wrong / irrelevant / unworthy based on what? You just being a christian on sunday morning at church? that gives you the right?

as I said - stuff it

I didn't totally dismiss it. I was simply asserting that your views on 'children' may be a bit limited. :)

You're scraping the bottom of barrel on this one. 'Guidelines' ?!? - Shows how much you really know on the topic. Just another hate angle you've dragged into this forum to belittle Christian Americans.

And you have the nerve to lecture someone on being rude and arrogant.

I think your attitude tells that I have it spot on - and believe me I do know what I'm talking about.

Just another hate angle you've dragged into this forum to belittle Christian Americans.
all Americans claim to be christians, from what I see, very few are. At least in the UK we don't pretend to be something we're not.

And you have the nerve to lecture someone on being rude and arrogant.
yes, and as you have now joined Me and Rich, you too can learn to be like us - it shouldn't be difficult, you're well on the road.

People, People. The holiday season is beginning. Let's not all go off about opinions.

Jsanders, I can see where you would be annoyed by Colin's comments, but even though it's a thin line, I don't think he was criticizing your parenting skills. Personally, I don't believe in the "cash for grades" line of thinking either. But your daughter seems to have developed a sense of purpose and drive, and that's all good.

Ken, Rich and Colin, stop it. Don't keep the bad feelings going by just throwing back insults at each other. And don't whine about "he started it", because I am so not interested. Rise above.

I'm putting this thread back into it's rightful place by posting a nice picture of Haley, so you can all go "Awww" and forget about those last posts.

IT'S DONE.

Well let's examine the facts then, my notable colleague offered an alternative opinion in a polite and proper manner and was immediately branded anti-American because the poster didn't agree with him. Who's rude and arrogant?

I wasn't - when Jenny asked
I guess you don’t agree with my style of parenting Col,
I replied with

I'm not really in a position to.

which I think is self explanitary.

However, what I do take exception to is to have some jumped-up, holier-than-thou person dismissing my view (and it is just a view) as "worthless". For that I find totally out of order, especially from a so called christian moderator.

You really have no idea, we (my wife and I) may have had a child killed, or died at birth. We may not have had the opportunity to bribe (or not) a son or daughter. We may, for other reasons not be able to have kids.

and my opinion is "worthless"?

Stuff it Ken
