Have now graduated to 2003 from 97 and was wondering if there is a way to configure the main Access menu so it doesn't look like cartoons. I hate the default "bubble" look...I don't know any other way to describe it at the moment, other than to say that the menu looks XP-like. I want the normal menu and look. Thanks for any help here.

Edit: I should add that I'm running Access 2003 on a Windows 2000 machine.

I guess the access look is driven by your windows settings. Try changing
your desktop theme to : windows classic and all menu's and stuff in access will be the "classic" style.

Thanks, both of you. I had already experimented with the desktop theme. It makes no difference at all in the look of Access itself. The link from RG about Windows themed controls doesn't seem to make any difference in the look of my controls either, but that really doesn't matter to me. It was the look of the Access GUI I was trying to change. :D

Anyway, I stuck a 256mb video card in the machine and it helped tremendously (had an 8mb in there), and added more RAM.

Guess I'm stuck with the memory hogging, child-like, amateurish, cartoon look of the interface itself, though. Microsoft must be hiring former Disney animators these days.

I bet it will grow on you in due time....:D

I guess it'll have to, as I don't appear to have a choice :)

Have a look at 'fixing access annoyances' by 'Mitchell & Callahan' (No relation) o'Reilly publishers. there are some excellent tips here.
