I have just moved to access 2003. I have a few questions for those who use 2003;

1. is there a way to set the reports so they open at 100% and not "Fit"?

2. What adventage/disadvantage is the 2002-2003 file format over 2000?

3. Other than turning security to Low is there any other way to prevent the security message when first opening 2003?

where do you set the security to low.. the third thing on your list is also driving me insane.

Go to Tools/macro/security then select Low. Be warned that by selecting Low that you might, under certain circumstances, be taking a security risk. I am not the one to advise you what level of risk you run by setting this thing to low. Maybe someone else can throw some light on the matter?

I dont have a security menu under tools/Macro =(

Looked in normal access, and in the VB editor for access.

In Response to question 3

when i installed 2003 the tool >> macro >> security did not exist in the list of options.Well not in access anyway
So i opened excell and hey there it is . Read up on creating certificates in the access help.Once you create your own certificate,and flag it as always trust this source ,You then need to assign your certificate for each db that you want it to apply to

Hope this helps

The security levels and settings are differnet for each Office 2003 program. They are stored in the registry as a different key for each Office 2003 program. Access 2003 will have a jet key and a sandbox key. Access 2003 has a low, medium and high security setting. Excel 2003 has a low, medium and high and very high security setting.

Maybe you can get the security settings by downloading the latest version of Jet from MS Update pages? It will take a while to work your way throught the pages but it is available. Maybe that's why I have it there cause I updated Jet.

I think I'll try creating a certificate & see what happens.

I've just made up a certificate to use & after a bit of fiddling it seems to work ok. Bjackson, can the certificates we create be copied to another computer if necessary or do we just recreate them when we update our hardware etc?

I downloaded the latest jet update and that made no difference.I cannot select tools>macros> security from within access.It just does not exist as a selection

I dont know that much about access 2003 macro security,i would imagine that the certificates would need to be made on each pc that will be running the dbs, and i imagine that the name would need to be an exact match, otherwise you will get the security warnings.I also suspect that if the security warnings are set to high , you will still probably get the warnings.

I am not using 2003 at the moment so i am not that concerned with any of the security things.Maybe in the future ,but access 2000-2002 seems to going ok for me.so if it aint broke,dont fix it
