American eating challenge

Darn, missed out on this one earlier, and I have a personal experience with over-sized steaks. About 40 years ago I was visiting family in central Alabama. We had me, Mom and Dad, an uncle and a couple of cousins along. Going north out of Birmingham while heading towards the lakes of northern Alabama, we happened to pass a place called the "Bug Tussle Steak House." It was about lunch time so we dropped in. As I recall, it was a "rustic Americana" type of place.

They had steaks on their menu in sizes 8 oz, 16 oz, 32 oz, and 64 oz. The biggest steak was pretty expensive, but if you ordered a 64 oz steak dinner (which included a dinner salad and the USA's "French Fried" potatoes - but I know that they are really Belgian Fried...), and could finish the steak, fries, and salad in 1 hour, it was free. The owner had maybe five pictures on the wall of people who had done this.

We ordered the 64 oz steak - but it was for the whole lot of us, not for just one. That comes out to about 10 oz each, give or take a fraction. We got it medium well, which by their standards meant "no pink in the middle but edges might be crispy." As I recall, it was a good steak.

I have since heard from my cousins that the original owners were no longer there but the steakhouse still was. The place is probably no longer as I remember it.

Just for the doubters who need to see links...
