will i be able to go into excel or must it go to access first and be exported.........or is there any code i can use to go directly to excel?

Gee..............obviously you guys are as dumb as I am........surley there is someone out there who knows something about this........???

Did you contact the manufacturer and ask that question?
Do you know of any users of this equipment who use it with MS Access or Excel and inventory applications? Users can tell you more about what it does and how well, often with more objectivity than the manufacturer.

These guys sell lots of scanner equipment, offer a full review, and ask you to contact them if you have questions.

Hmmm... well, I can speak only for myself, but I'm sure many others feel the same way. Being called "dumb" doesn't exactly give me a warm feeling about even beginning to try to help out... especially considering that this is an MS Access forum and this is your first posting... about something "almost" totally unrelated to Access When I see this kind of thing, I figure you're just trolling whatever online boards you can find to see if, by some miracle, someone comes up with your desired answer... or that you might actually rep the product and you're looking for an excuse to simply type its name in a forum.

Regardless, not the right board fr your post.

Why not buy a scanner that populates the keyboard buffer (this one might do this)? Whatever software you use, including Excel or Access will see the data as if it was typed in.

Hi

If you actually did a little self research instead of idolly waiting for someone to provide the info you need even you did insult them on your first post, you'd quickly find that a barcode scanner within access, excel or even notepad will simply read a barcode and display it. For example

Open notepad and zap a barcode
You will get a number appear

Open excel, select a cell and zap a barcode
Guess what? A number will appear

Open access, select a field and zap a barcode
That's right, a barcode will appear.

The scanner simply provides a number or alphanumerical code. It's up to the developer to create the action. For example

In access, the field is populated, you need to run a routine that will find your record based on the barcode. A simply way would be to create a query with it's criteria set to the form field. Pretty basic stuff.

Look at that, not even an insult or the use on 'numb nut' in sight!!!!
