can’t hid bound column in combo box (1 Viewer)

I do not want the bound column in my combo box to appear in the dropdown menu, how might I accomplish this? I have a 2 column combo box & the bound column is 2 which has values OA or BE, but that’s not descriptive in a dropdown so column one shows Over & Above and Co-op, and that’s all I want the user to see. I’ve looked at the property sheet for the control but haven’t found the answer yet.

I typed this in in my form open event, the control I want to hid is on a tab page named tab1:

Forms!frmDataEntry![tab1]![cboPromotionType].Column(1).Visible = False
