Hi,

My daughter asked me for some help with this but I'm stuck too. Her laptop is running Windows Vista Home Premium and she's using Internet Explorer 8.

When you click on the address bar and start backspacing, previous sites that she's visited appear and this is what we're trying to clear. See top part of attached jpeg.

I went into Tools > Options and deleted the history. I ran a free utility called CCleaner too but that didn't work either. I've noticed that if I click the arrow at the end of the address bar, lots of sites are listed including her Favourites, but the sites I mean are listed under History. It looks like you can delete them from there too, but even then they come back. See bottom part of picture.

I can't figure out where on her computer these entries are stored and now it's bugging me. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Pat.

Yep it's a typical Microsoft 'feature', you don't actually delete the history from that location but despite it saying you can (it actually deletes your temporary internet files). Instead go to safety > delete browsing history that should get it.

Thanks Minkey. That's done it. I could've sworn I'd been in there and cleared it from there too. Maybe I accidentally clicked Cancel rather than OK. Or maybe the browser and/or PC had to be restarted.

Anyway - it's gone. Thanks for your help.
