Attached is my DB. I cannot seem to get my three main combo boxes that are in frmmaintab to properly display and cycle through. I want the Job to display only jobs numbers. The release number to display release numbers on that job number. And then details for the release numbers. Can anyone steer me in the proper direction? Not all of the buttons will work due to having to delete all of my reports to make the 2MB size limit! Thanks to anyone that is willing to look in advance!!!

I have been able to successfully make cascading combo boxes thanks to your links Gina!!! Thanks for that!!! Now, i've got the boxes working. But they are not "linked" to the rest of the data in the form (they aren't refreshing with different combo choices" anyone point me in the right direction? I've uploaded a new copy with the boxes working. Form in question is "frmMainTab". If someone could take a look and describe how i would "attach" these combos to refresh the tabbed forms. I would be ever so grateful!

I'm not sure what exactly you are doing. You have received links to info re Cascading combos and it seems you have got that working. I notice that the GO button does not have any code in the click event, but I don't know the background.
My recommendation is that you give specific instructions/details to readers if they are to test something.

I cannot get the Go button to send active records to trickle down to the tab control of what is picked in the combo boxes. I've deleted everything i've tried in the events list. I just can't seem to make it work! I've tried using the criteria on the forms linked to the combo boxes with a requery to the forms. That didn't work. I'm not sure how else i would do it.

Basically, i want to hit the go button. And have all the forms before refreshed with data ONLY from the selection of the combo boxes. Is this even possible? I thought by switching to tab control i should be able to do this?

I'm finding out that i have the criteria in the section. I've moved the criteria to my KEY and some of them are refreshing properly. And some are not. Also, in the "shipping" tab. i am getting triple of everything.

I've figure out how to get the items to refresh properly. However, the "Bom Entry" tab under the main form "frmMainTab". It will not allow me to input new records. I believe this is due to not having the current selection in the combo boxes set to "active" Can anyone take a look at this and tell me what they think?

As far as the file size before corrupting. I plan on eventually moving it to SQL. As i am positive, we WILL hit the 2gb in a short amount of time!

Well, a few observations...

1. There was corruption in the database so I had to import all the Objects to a clean file. You might want to go that yourself and then run a Compact & Repair.

2. You are using Reserved Words, you need to fix that. For a complete list see...

3. I don't understand your Data Model (Relationships Window). I have no idea what you are trying to do. You also need to get rid of those special characters in the Field Names. Going to suggest you read up on database design...

4. The reason you can't enter records is because you are trying to enter on the many side where there is no record on the one side. Image of error attached. You really have too many tables in the query for it to be useable. At most you should have three tables in the Recordsource of a Form and for the most part that is too many.

I did not look at anything else, no need until you address the above mentioned issues.

I'm kind of at a loss here. I didn't realize i was doing that bad. The reason for so many tables is i have to be able to seperate the job number, from the release nunmber, from the detail number, from the overall quantity, from the actual size of the parts. It is the only way i could see it working. I'm aware i was flirting with the word "detail". However, "they" are very picky as to the wording, and won't all it to be anything but. How did you find a corruption in the database? What do i look for? Does it stand out?

In telling: I don't know if i'd be able to narrow down the amount of tables needed with what i need to have as far as structure. I have another DB with less tables. It does not work nearly as well as this one (as far as record searching). Do you have any suggestions on narrowing down the amount of tables needed here.

Okay, so...

1. *THEY* are never supposed to see the names in the Table. So, you can name them one way in the Table and on the Form you can use a Label depicting the names *THEY* want to see.

2. I am not saying you should narrow down the Tables. I am saying it is not evident what you are doing by your Relationship Model. If you could post exactly what Business Plan this database speaks to I can better tell what, if any, Table modifications need to be made. This will also apply to Queries attached to your Forms. Think of it like building a House... we need to get the Foundation (Tables) correct before worrying about hanging the decorations (Forms).

Gina,

Thank you for helping me. I would like to email you a "close" to final copy. I'd like to see what you think about, or if there are any tweaks that could be made. Would this be a possibility?
