Coronavirus - are we all doomed?

I've offered to help her by accompanying her but she's not ready for my 3 mile walks yet.
Your daily walk Doc is a very good thing to do and an excellent habit. I hope you keep that up as long as you are able to. Apparently, a 40 minute walk is supposed to be as good for you as a 20 minute run.

The way I am dealing with it is to try to keep to the same routines. Get up at same time, eat at same time, bed at same time.
I also have made a list of little jobs that need doing - nothing major. I work a lot on the garden and Spring is a busy time like planting seeds and nurturing them. Also, things like tidying the garage, sorting stuff, garage door needs painting, metal gates could do with a coat. Then there's housework to do. I like cooking so I cook up meals that can be frozen like cottage pie, chilli etc. I also am doing a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle, learning new songs to play on guitar.
Tomorrow (Monday) is clothes washing, clean sheets on bed and hoovering, a little nap after lunch, then do some cooking for my tea time.

I was going to actually post here, or create a separate post, on what peoples plans were when confined to home. I have my whiteboard full of projects and things to do, ranging from cutting up trees with a chainsaw, losing 1 stone in weight, continuing my Ruby on Rails course and getting my routines back on track (which seem to have been blown out the window lately!).

I'm asking myself, "How can I turn this adversity into an opportunity?"

I work at two companies, 21 hours a day.
I don't know what will happen if someday our government tries similar measures against spreading the virus and we have to stay at home.
It would be the worst torture for me.
Three hours sleep a night?

God has possibly done this to pull them back from their stupidity of seeking so much material knowledge, they're in danger of imploding on themselves. that will happen anyway, eventually, but people need to be pulled back because before this outbreak, they were worrying about literally anything and everything, and none of the worrying made any damn sense or had any merit whatsoever.
This outbreak certainly puts other things into perspective, so I certainly agree with you from that perspective.

Three hours sleep a night?
actually Jon, it's a lot less than that. this last night the total was 1.5 hours. 3 bouts of 15-30 min sleeps a piece. and of course, the vivid dreams are now happening once again. sometimes scares the shit out of me. the devil's madness is controlling, that's for sure. and NO, not me. I'm talking about the world.

I had about 9 hours.

I had about 9 hours.
that's crazy, Jon. 8 hours is enuf. 9 hours is TOO MUCH, mr leader. YOU, being a science minded dude, should know that 8 hours of sleep = 2 cycles of sleep, Jon! =)

Good thing, because my knees aren't what they used to be. Oh, they are still original equipment - but they've been "trimmed" a bit and not up to hard runs any more. Brisk walk, enough to work up a sweat? The primary care guy approves. (So does my cardiologist.) No more tennis, because it may have been the side-to-side movement that necessitated the "trim job" - a meniscectomy.

Adam, the amount of sleep you or anyone else gets on average is "enough." We are all different. I agree that there is such a thing as "too much sleep" but every person's needs are different. Sleep insufficiency is related to weight loss (or in this case, gain). And trust me, I have studied that. I get by on about 6 1/2 hours of sleep, but sometimes I'll get an hour more depending on the previous day. Since I'm retired, the alarms are turned off and nobody calls us that early. So this is my "natural" sleep pattern. Provided you are an otherwise active person, your body will self-regulate the amount of sleep you get.

no it won't, and you won't understand why. and since you're not a believer, i'm not going to attempt to explain it to you.

Jon - a whiteboard of jobs is a good idea. I'm into a notebook, not quite as sophisticated as you! However as it's lunchtime now, I can tick off a couple of jobs and the weather is triff.
I'm saddened by those dopey selfish people who went to parks and the coast, totally ignoring government advice. They're like that stupid clown on here who thinks they're invincible.

yet another narrow minded person that reads only what they want. then put me on ignore, super-nice person. is that so tough?

I went to the chemist yesterday and asked the assistant; "What kills the Corona Virus?"

She replied to me, "Ammonia Cleaner."

I said, "Oh, I am sorry- I thought you worked here..."

I completely agree with you here. On the plus side, they will make the peak earlier so us who are self isolating won't have to isolate for so long.

It was 19 hours until two or three months ago. I'm challenging myself. Raised it to 21. I imagin now my name can be added to Guinness World Records. 😀

And yet here you are, being frequently insulted and/or corrected by all of the senior members for your incredible ability to NOT GET THE HINT, and you still don't get it, and then come up with that gem of oracular wisdom. The irony literally drips from that one in bucket-sized quantities. I hope Jon's bit bucket doesn't leak.

I can see it now... "Cleanup on aisle 4 next to the AWF servers."

Typical response. Adam, that is the response of a petulant CHILD who has been corrected by his elders but is defiant to the end. GROW UP. You are overdue for it.

Doc...your words are true and you have the patience of a saint. That being said, you are also the NVA's only enabler. Were you to stop responding to him, I daresay he would have to look elsewhere to "scratch his itch"
