One overlooked reason for the releases is the protection of the C.O.'s who need to be there to control the real hardcore inmates who will not be released. Another is those who are being held pre-trial and are presumed innocent. Should they be subject to a possible death sentence? Others may be held on technical violations for instance texting their ex-wife in violation of a no contact order. Yes they may have a long criminal record but their current bid may be for something minor. Unfortunately I'm sure a few bad apples will continue to be bad apples.
I'm not anti-gun but I am pro gun control. I carry concealed each and every day and I'm well aware of what I can and cant do while doing so.
I see a few things in that article which hint as to why he was charged. Albeit I am not overly familiar with his local laws ( I think Va. is a SYG, open carry state?) I see a few glaring reasons for him being charged.
