Poison this thread is. I will just say that the virus will not end up being successful doing any major damage when it's all said and done. It is sad that any country cannot supply their own health care workers with PPE due to a local suppliers choice to send supplies to other countries. In a crisis, you would think people would come together and try and solve the problem, instead we get finger pointing and irrational behavior and politics. Instead of asking if we are doomed, a better question is how can we help solve the problem?
Let's say we kept the rules in place and did not allow any drugs or possible cures to come to market unless they were thoroughly tested. How fast do you think we would make any progress in fighting the threat?
What would you do if you were in charge of the country?
I believe testing and removal of red tape in favor getting it done fast is the way to go. Health care workers have to have the PPE necessary to protect themselves while they perform the one of the most important jobs there is right now. If you know anyone that is part of the battle you would know this.
That Spectrum commercial with volcano describes the current mentality around the virus. "You toss all your PPE in there, and the virus ends, and everyone is happy."
