I need to extract info from an Access database and put it into a textfile in a special format. Is this a VB-thing or is there a simpler way? I do not want to use ASP on a server to do this, I want to do it on a client.

Tnx, Freddy...

Check the Access help files for the TransferText method.

Well, I need some very special formatting on that textfile. I suppose Access cant help me there. Is VB my way of fixing this then?

Tnx for your answer.

Freddy...

What do you mean by formatting? Text files don't save formatting...

G’day Freddy and welcome to the site.

Well the maximum flexibility would probably come from using VBA.

More information would be needed to even start: -

Does the data come from just one table or a query?
What are the field names and data types?
What are the exact formats required for each of the fields in the text file?
Can you post a sample of the tables/queries/text file formats?
(A97 please and remove any sensitive data.)

I think that is where to start.

Regards,
Chris.

Well, I think you just said it. I`ll go for the VBA-solution. It will take me to much time to post an example here, kind of in a hurry.

Tnx for all your help.

Freddy..
