Curiosity regarding who's viewing

It seems odd to me that given all the space available, the tool will only show 2 user names. Is that a setting that can be changed? Looks like up to 10 could fit on that line.

That's odd, I don't think I've seen it cut-off like that.

It does seem odd given the size of the box that appears devoted to that feature. I've noticed a few times, it's happening on this thread now.

Where I do see the effect Paul mentioned is where multiple likes are given to the same post. Only a few names ae shown (and N others) but there is space for many more. For example

Who wants their Thanks counts added to Likes?

Some of you wanted me to import the Thanks counts and convert into Likes. Who wants theirs imported? Just click Like on this post and I will transfer them for you. Notice what I did there? Sneaky! I figure 1 Thank > 1 Like, so I propose 1 Thank = 3 Likes, fair deal? Likes are a bit more...

For info I have both options unticked on privacy options but clearly you can see what I'm viewing anyway

Nope. Currently 5 viewing. I see 3 names plus … and 2 others.
What do you see on the likes on your first post in the Thanks & Likes thread I mentioned?

But that is built into the software, while the Users Viewing stats are a third-party addon.

Maybe some of the settings I just changed are cached and only get updated when some cron jobs run.

Or, Post #6 on this thread might be the answer. Probably the most likely answer.

Yes, you just click the link and all members appear. The setting @pbaldy showed was a privacy option for all who are *currently* watching a thread.

I'm currently seeing this, and there's nothing clickable in the "and 2 more" that would expand the list (the 2 is highlighted because I was clicking all over the place).

When I said click the link, I am referring to showing the extra Likes. The "2 more" might have their privacy settings set as indicated in your Post #6, and hence you cannot see their names. Does that make sense?
